PT&E Münchwilen
Product Technology and Engineering (PT&E) combines knowledge and skills from different disciplines to design, develop, and optimize products and their manufacturing processes, to meet the needs of farmers across the world. Together we create our customer’s physical experience of every Syngenta CP product; from the moment they touch the pack through to application on the target.
Analytical & Product Chemistry
One of the main tasks of analytics is to support the development process for new active ingredients and finished products. We determine the composition and stability of these products, for which we develop new test methods. Furthermore, we compile data under the GLP quality standard for the registration of active ingredients and products, and we also certify test material that is used for various tests, e.g. in field trials or for toxicological tests. We are an important partner of Marketing&Sales by detecting counterfeit products or patent infringements. As analytics, we accompany products from research to the end of their life cycle and are therefore in close contact with many different areas.
Application Technology
An AI's efficacy lies in optimal formulation and proper field application. Our Münchwilen team enhances formulation retention, spreading, and uptake aiding robust development. The final product undergoes rigorous testing to ensure high-quality standards. The Basel team collaborates with CPD and Marketing, offering innovation and expertise in equipment calibration, nozzle choice, drones, precision application, and spray quality tools, ensuring the best technical advice for optimal crop potential.
Formulation Development
In Formulation Development, we transform active ingredients into marketable products. We design and create formulations that are both effective as crop protection products as well as safe for the customer and the environment. In our labs scientists develop recipes by combining the active ingredient with co-formulants such as surfactants and adjuvants to ensure the efficient delivery of the active ingredient to the target. Physical and chemical testing to internal and external specifications ensure a high quality and robustness of our products.
Formulation Engineering
Formulation Engineering is the essential link between R&D and Production, scaling up innovative ideas into commercially viable products. Working collaboratively with Formulation Development and our own pilot plant, our team ensures a seamless transition from laboratory to manufacturing. As the link of Formulation, Fill & Pack into R&D, we support our manufacturing operations in addressing challenges, optimizing processes, and creating production capacity.
Packaging Development
Alongside all this, here at Münchwilen we develop and design the packaging of our crop protection products for Europe. It is all a customer sees and touches, therefore the customer is our focus.Hence it is important to encompass several factors: packaging ensures the safe handling of products, product compatibility with the packaging, their storage durability over lifetime of the product, their secure and functional transportation from production sites to customers, and product identification by customers, which protects the Syngenta brand and supports our reputation. Our packaging team, together through partnership within PT&E, ensures the seamless introduction of new products at a high level of quality.
